Recently I got a used VX-8E from my friend Gerhard DH8MO, so I can finally monitor my DB0ZM relais on 2m. But I also wanted to have this type of device, because it can send APRS messages if the GPS module is attached to the device.
Well, what should I write, it works:
The manual is very straightforward, and it's rather easy to configure this function. The only thing I am observing that many places in Munich prevent sending to our central gateway DB0EL, because of cover through house walls. I have been carrying my handheld with me several times but I observe that many sending positions will not be shown on the map. So this is a good point for another gateway in Munich, possibly in the south.
