Recently I got a used VX-8E from my friend Gerhard DH8MO, so I can finally monitor my [[DB0ZM]] relais on 2m. But I also wanted to have this type of device, because it can send APRS messages if the GPS module is attached to the device.

The manual is very straightforward, and it's rather easy to configure this function. The only thing I am observing that many places in Munich prevent sending to our central gateway DB0EL, because of cover through house walls. I have been carrying my handheld with me several times but I observe that many sending positions will not be shown on the map. So this is a good point for another gateway in Munich, possibly in the south.
